A piece of

History

When Crystal Palace was moved from Hyde Park to its perch on Penge Peak in 1854, the glass- and iron-clad pavilion’s designer Sir Joseph Paxton enlarged the space and created the park that still stands today. Although the original building was destroyed by fire in 1936, the area remains a bastion of invention and imagination.
